Theme - Human Environment Interactions By Morgan T. September 26 2022 Last updated December 6th, 2022 On day two, I climbed to the summit of Mount Cardigan for the first time. In the morning, I woke up and went downstairs to read my book, Gnomeageddon. After everyone took their seats, I ate eggs and french toast casserole for breakfast. There was also bacon, but I didn’t have any. As soon as I was done eating, I moved into another bunk room since my previous bunk mate, Kiera, had gone home sick before breakfast. When everyone had gotten ready for the hike, my group left to hike up to the alpine zone at the summit of Firescrew. About 400 feet in elevation from the summit of Firescrew, we stopped to have lunch, yet I didn’t eat my sandwich because I was saving it. During lunch, I saw windmills on the mountain range and sketched them while I was eating my trail mix. About a half hour later, we started hiking again. We took a break at the summit of Firescrew and started talking about the people that were going to be in the second session of the trip. We stayed at the summit for around 15 minutes before going to the summit of Cardigan. Up there is where I had my sunbutter & jelly sandwich. I sketched the mountain range from there and the fire tower at the summit. On the downhill to get back to the lodge, I fell down and ripped my pants, but I wasn’t harmed. We also played Camouflage on the way back. For dinner, I had a vegetarian burger instead of a hamburger. There were later rice krispies for dessert. After dinner, we had campfire skits about what happened during the day OR we could demonstrate one of the rules we have when out in nature. Each group performed one skit, and I played a rock. Our skit was about the rule: leave no trace. After all the skits were done, we went stargazing in between the lodge and the campfire and had a lesson about light pollution and why it’s bad. We then went inside, got our gear off, and heard a story about one of Mr. Woolner’s relatives. Then, we went to bed and my bunk mates and I planned what we would do for packing in the morning before breakfast. So, on day two, we all hiked to the summit of Cardigan.
